A Day in the Life of a Volunteer

Every shift is different, but here's the kind of thing you'll get up to.

Welcome & Registration Room Host
Set up registration desk Check room layout & seating Sort badges & lanyards Welcome speakers & attendees Prepare swag Put out session signage Load signage & flow Support timing & Q&A Scan QR codes Check screen, laptop, mic Check in attendees Run the roving mic Give out badges & swag Capture photos & quotes Direct attendees Know who to call for AV help Help anyone who looks unsure Reset the room between sessions Escalate ticket issues Complete the post-session form Pack down materials Escalate, don't troubleshoot alone Tidy the area Check for lost property Head to the after party Final room check with shift lead
